LIGHT IS THE LIMIT
Aljocha Hamerlynck uses the light as a mean to recreate the photographic image,
or a narration around the image, using artificial colored light sources.
Highlighting the sculptural and plastic aspect of his subjects by isolating them from their context.
Ezra Veldhuis paints from images with specific lights (in space, under water,
through the ice) in order to focus on the light properties themselves.
She creates very big paintings that are not embedded.
She deploys them into the exhibition space and plunges viewers into an immersive work of art.
Both artists emphasize some specific light qualities, outlining some contours of innovative visual territories.

Aljocha Hamerlynck utilise la lumière comme un moyen de récréer l’image photographique, ou une narration autour de l’image,
utilisant des sources de lumière artificielle, il met en valeur l’aspect sculptural et plastique de ses sujets, les isolant de leur contexte.
Ezra Veldhuis peint à partir d’images présentant des lumières spécifiques (dans l’espace, sous l’eau, à travers la glace) afin de se concentrer sur la qualité même de la lumière.
Elle crée de très grandes peintures non enchâssées qu’elle déploie dans l’espace d’exposition, plongeant ainsi le spectateur dans une œuvre immersive.
En accentuant certaines qualités spécifiques de la lumière, ces deux artistes tentent d’esquisser les contours de territoires visuels inédits.

Als u een van die dagen hebt waarop u zich volledig wil laten betoveren,
kunt u zich naar KERK begeven en u laten verdrinken in de sprookjesachtige wereld die de foto’s van Aljocha Hamerlynck weergeeft.
Zijn werk oogt soms nostalgisch, soms futuristisch, maar altijd magisch en raakt thema’s als eenzaamheid, vervreemding,
angst, humor of manipulatie.
Maar oordeelt u vooral zelf, want een beeld zegt immers meer dan duizend woorden.
